After taking a 20+ year hiatus from music, Rob found himself locked down at home due to the Covid pandemic in 2020. During this time, he rediscovered his passion for songwriting and released four new songs that year: “The Lows…”, “She Walks Away”, “Back To The Start”, and “Always There (Just Out Of Sight)”. He followed that up in 2021 with the release of three more new songs written as part of sessions with Ryan Tedder. Those songs were “Come Back Home”, “Thousand Eyes”, and “The Roses”. In 2022, Rob felt that he was close to having enough material to put together an album and began to focus on that. He did release one new song in 2022 entitled “All I Want Is Love”. On February 10, 2023, Rob released “Back To The Start: The Album” which included six new songs as well as his previously released singles.
Rob has been writing songs since he was 12 years old and has kept every song he has ever written and recorded. He was first introduced to the music industry in 1989 with the release of his first single “Drifting Apart/Take Away Love”. A record label tried to buy the rights to these two songs, but in the end, Rob said no to the deal. Before taking a break from music, the last song Rob recorded was his sister’s wedding song in 1997.
His love for music was inspired by The Beatles, with Paul McCartney being his favorite. Rob is a self-taught musician and plays all the instruments on his songs as well as does all the vocals.
After releasing his comeback album early in 2023, Rob has remained busy. He released an updated version of his 1989 single "Drifting Apart (2023)" and has also released two new singles "Coming Home” and "Never Going to Walk Away from You" from his new upcoming album set to be released sometime in 2024.
